A 27-year-old man from Laikipia, Wilson Wambugu, is serving an 80-year prison sentence — a punishment he insists is the result of false accusations and a bitter family feud.
Speaking from prison, Wambugu said his troubles began when he fell out with a relative who had employed him as a shamba boy in Nyeri.
According to Wambugu, the fallout started over something as trivial as alcohol. “He asked me to buy him drinks, but I told him I didn’t have the money,” he recalled in an interview with Jamba TV’s Simon Kibe. “I was earning KSh 6,000 a month, most of which went to my mother’s medication.
