HEARTBREAKING: Tears Flow Freely As 3 Sisters Break Down Clinging Onto Brother's Coffin After His Tragic Death

Emotional scenes marked the funeral of Douglas Ayienda, a third-year student at Moi University, whose life was tragically cut short in a drowning incident that has deeply affected his family, friends, and the wider community.

The burial is taking place today at Nyanguru Primary School grounds in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County, where mourners have gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects.

Ayienda lost his life during a hiking trip with friends near River Kesses in Eldoret after strong winds swept him into the water. Despite immediate rescue efforts, he could not be saved.

His body was brought home to Nyanguru Village on Thursday evening, where a sombre atmosphere quickly set in as relatives, neighbours, fellow students, and friends assembled to support the grieving family. The most heartbreaking moment came when his sisters approached the casket.

Naomy Ayienda, Linnet Osoro, and their elder sister were overcome with emotion, breaking down as they held onto the coffin.

Their grief moved many in attendance, with several mourners unable to hold back tears. “They clung to the casket, struggling to come to terms with the loss,” one mourner recounted, capturing the depth of sorrow at the scene.

Family members and friends attempted to console the sisters, while others offered prayers and words of comfort during the emotional farewell.

Naomy, who had earlier shared a touching tribute online describing her brother as someone she deeply cherished, was again overwhelmed as she faced the reality of his passing.

Those who knew Ayienda described him as humble, hardworking, and full of promise, noting that his sudden death has left a profound void.

His passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences from across the country, particularly among students and young people who related to his journey.

As the final rites proceed, the community continues to rally around the family, offering support and solidarity during this painful period of mourning.
