UDA Suffers Major Blow After Senior Party Leader Announces Exit Ahead of 2027 Polls

Senator Boni Khalwale has announced that he has detached himself from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a move that could significantly reshape the political landscape in Kakamega County and beyond ahead of the next General Election.

In a video shared on his official Facebook page following an interview on Mulembe FM, the outspoken senator declared that he is no longer involved in UDA party affairs and will not be seeking any elective position on the party’s ticket in the upcoming polls.

The statement marks one of the clearest signals yet of widening cracks within sections of the ruling party’s support base in Western Kenya.

Khalwale, who was elected to the Senate on a UDA ticket, has been a prominent political voice in the region and a key ally within the party structure.

His decision to publicly distance himself from UDA is therefore being interpreted by political observers as a major setback for the party’s influence in the area.

However, despite confirming his departure from UDA activities, the senator did not disclose which political direction he intends to take next.

He neither announced plans to join another party nor indicated whether he would run as an independent candidate in the next election.

The announcement is likely to spark fresh political realignments in Western Kenya as leaders position themselves ahead of 2027.

Analysts say Khalwale’s next move will be closely watched, as it could influence regional alliances and voter sentiment in the coming months.
