"Stop Threatening Me, You're Not There When I Was Elected" Drama In Senate As Speaker Attacks Sifuna

There was tension in the Senate today after a disagreement between the acting Speaker, the Meru Senator, and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The clash started when Sifuna asked the Speaker to immediately remove Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei from the House. This was after Cherargei made remarks that were seen as disrespectful towards Senator Godfrey Osotsi.

Sifuna said the evidence was clear and there was no need to delay. He pushed the Speaker to make a quick ruling.

But the acting Speaker refused to rush. He asked for 15 minutes to look into the matter before making a decision.

He said it was important to follow the right procedure and be fair to everyone.

Sifuna did not agree. He insisted that the issue was obvious and should be handled immediately. His strong stand angered the Speaker.

In response, the acting Speaker sharply criticized Sifuna. He accused him of trying to pressure the chair. He also reminded Sifuna that he was not present in the House when he was elected to his current position, and told him to respect the leadership of the Senate.

The exchange caused a brief disruption as other senators watched the heated argument.

The incident shows rising tension in the Senate, especially on how members should behave and how rules should be followed. It also highlights the challenge of maintaining order during emotional debates.

The acting Speaker later said he would still give a fair ruling after reviewing the issue, and urged senators to remain calm and respectful.
