Senator Edwin Sifuna has renewed his criticism of political leaders he believes are misleading Kenyans about development and public spending.
His remarks came during a public discussion where he questioned claims that large amounts of money are being used for projects that ordinary citizens cannot clearly see.
Sifuna argued that some leaders are now speaking about billions of shillings in development funds despite previously claiming they had very little money when they were in office.
He said such statements raise serious questions about honesty and accountability in government spending.
His remarks come at a time when he is at the center of a growing political realignment within the opposition.
Sifuna recently lost his position as Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement after strongly opposing the party’s cooperation with the government led by William Ruto.
The disagreement created deep divisions inside the party. Sifuna maintained that the opposition should remain independent and hold the government accountable rather than entering political arrangements that weaken oversight.
Following his removal, the senator joined other leaders who share the same position to launch a new political pressure group known as the Linda Mwananchi movement.
The group presents itself as a platform meant to defend the interests of ordinary citizens and strengthen opposition politics.
