Ruto Govt Reports Huge Progress in NYOTA Youth Mentorship as Deadline Extended for Entrepreneurs

The William Ruto administration has announced encouraging developments in the nationwide NYOTA Project, following an extension of the mentorship program deadline for young entrepreneurs.

According to an official update issued on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the NYOTA mentorship program—part of the project’s Business Support Component—has been active since March 4 across all 1,450 wards in the country.

The program targets youth who received startup capital under the initiative, helping them transition from funding to operational business management.

The mentorship program follows the disbursement of the first tranche of business startup capital to 121,800 beneficiaries nationwide.

The initiative employs a structured three-step approach designed to foster enterprise growth: business skills training, access to funding, and structured mentorship.

Susan Mang’eni, the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development, reported that 94 percent of beneficiaries who received the first tranche have already completed the mentorship sessions, highlighting strong participation and progress among the youth.

“The NYOTA Project mentorship program ensures that young entrepreneurs are not just funded but also equipped with the skills and guidance needed to manage and grow their businesses successfully,” Mang’eni said, adding that the extension of the deadline allows those still completing the sessions to benefit fully.

Government officials emphasized that the program is central to empowering the youth, promoting economic self-reliance, and driving inclusive development across the country.

The update comes amid a nationwide push to support startups and youth-led enterprises, signaling that the Ruto administration is committed to providing both financial resources and practical mentorship to transform Kenya’s entrepreneurial landscape.

With most beneficiaries now actively managing their businesses, the NYOTA Project continues to demonstrate the impact of structured mentorship and targeted funding, reinforcing the government’s vision for a vibrant and self-sufficient youth economy.
