Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa has slammed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for allegedly politicizing the death of MP Johana Ngeno.
According to reports, the late MP Ngeno died along with five other people after their helicopter crashed and burst into flames, killing everyone on board.
The incident happened on February 28, 2026, in Nandi County.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the pilot attempted to make an emergency landing due to bad weather before losing control of the helicopter.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua allegedly reported the death of the MP during a rally.
He called on President William Ruto's administration to ask Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to step down and allow investigations.
According to Rigathi, the death of the MP should be investigated.
"I would like to call on President William Ruto to direct Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to step down. Allow room for investigations because MP Ngeno was about to be the Kingpin of the Kipsigis," Rigathi said.
His remarks caught the attention of MP Kimani, who said that he was using the passing of the MP to try and incite communities.
He was backed by UDA MP Oscar Sudi, who also called on Rigathi to allow the family and Kenyans to mourn the late MP.
