"Mabishop Hawaezi Kuja Kwa Ofisi Yangu" Presidential Candidate Reveals Why He'll Do This If Elected

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has sparked fresh debate after sharing strong views about the role of religious leaders in public life.

Speaking during a public forum, Matiang'i acknowledged the significant influence churches hold in society, noting that many community activities often revolve around religious institutions.

However, he made it clear that he prefers to keep a clear line between church leaders and his official duties in government offices.

Matiang'i recalled that during his time in government he discouraged senior clergy from visiting his office for matters that he believed should remain outside government administration.

He specifically mentioned Jackson Ole Sapit, saying he had once told the Anglican Archbishop not to come to his office while he was serving as a cabinet minister.

According to Matiang'i, public institutions must operate independently and avoid situations that could blur the line between state responsibilities and religious influence.

He stressed that while the church plays an important social role in communities, government offices must remain professional spaces focused strictly on public service and national administration.

His remarks have stirred mixed reactions, with some agreeing on the need for institutional boundaries while others believe cooperation between church leaders and government officials remains important in addressing social issues.
