Edwin Sifuna Vows To Stay In ODM Despite Pressure As He Accuses Ruto Of Plotting To Do This

A dramatic moment unfolded during a political gathering in Nairobi after Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna firmly rejected calls for him to abandon the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and start a new political movement.

Speaking during a Linda Mwananchi event held in the city, the outspoken senator made it clear that leaving the party is not an option for him.

His remarks came amid growing political tensions within ODM and speculation that some leaders could break away to form alternative political formations.

Sifuna told supporters that the party belongs to its members and supporters, and therefore no individual or faction should feel entitled to push others out.

According to him, ODM has been built through the efforts and sacrifices of many people over the years, and those who contributed to its growth have every right to defend its future.

The senator argued that political loyalty should not disappear simply because of internal disagreements. Instead, he insisted that leaders who believe in the party’s founding ideals should remain within the organization and fight to protect its direction.

During his speech, Sifuna also spoke passionately about the legacy of longtime opposition leader Raila Odinga.

He said that Odinga had always encouraged courage among his supporters and that abandoning the party during challenging times would betray that spirit.

Beyond internal party matters, Sifuna made explosive claims about the involvement of President William Ruto in what he described as attempts to weaken ODM.

According to the senator, the party has undergone noticeable changes in recent months that have left many longtime supporters confused.

He alleged that external influence and political maneuvering have contributed to the emergence of factions within the party. In his view, such developments risk shifting the party away from its traditional role as a voice for ordinary citizens.

The Nairobi senator insisted that despite the political turbulence, he remains committed to defending the party from what he described as efforts to undermine its identity.

Observers say Sifuna’s remarks highlight the deep political debates currently taking place within ODM. Some analysts believe the disagreements could shape the future of the party as the country gradually moves toward the next general election cycle.
