Today the High Court of Kenya has overturned the decision of the Speaker of National Assembly to suspend Kitutu South MP Anthony Kibagendi from Parliament.
The ruling was granted by Justice Bahati Mwamuye where he issued a conservatory order halting the Speaker’s directive indefinitely.
Edwin Sifuna has broken his silence concerning the same information saying that the decision is a very encouraging one even though it took very long to get to this order.
Edwin Sifuna has informed Kenyans that the decision of the speaker was manifestly illegal and very unconstitutional.
He has said that many people are aware that a speaker has no powers over the conduct of members of parliament when they are outside the parliament buildings.
Edwin Sifuna has revealed that the move to kick out Kitutu South MP Anthony Kibagendi from Parliament over something he said on television was abuse of power and also impunity.
Here is what the source has reported;
"What Wetang’ula did was manifestly illegal and unconstitutional. Even people who never went to law school know a Speaker has no powers over members' conduct outside Parliament - Sifuna." Kenyans co ke posted on their official verified Facebook page.
