President William Ruto on Wednesday, February 18, led a series of development rallies across Nairobi County, accompanied by Governor Johnson Sakaja.
The rally at Ngomongo started on a high note as Ruto and Sakaja were warmly received by locals but took a tense turn at the end when Korogocho Ward MCA Absalom Odhiambo Onyango climbed atop a vehicle to address the crowd.
His speech was immediately met with loud "Wantam" chants from residents, drowning out his message.
Attempting to regain control, the MCA appealed to the crowd and informed President Ruto that some locals were yet to fully recognize that he was their leader.
Despite the efforts, the tension escalated, forcing Ruto’s team to halt the visual livestream and eventually end it as the gathering concluded.
President Ruto then proceeded to Dandora Bridge for another engagement, continuing his tour of Nairobi’s development projects.
