Showdown as Ruto, Sifuna Call for Rallies in Kakamega

President William Ruto and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna are set for a political face-off this weekend in Kakamega County, with both leaders scheduling separate rallies.

Sifuna’s team will hold a roadside rally in Kakamega Town, accompanied by a lineup of leaders including James Orengo, Babu Owino, Caroli Omondi, Caleb Amisi, and Richard Onyonka, among others.

President Ruto, meanwhile, is scheduled to attend a church service at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Matungu Constituency on Sunday, after which he will host a development rally.

The events are shaping up as a direct display of strength between Ruto and the opposition team, which is gearing up to challenge him in the 2027 elections.

During a church service in Kitengela, Kajiado County, Sifuna reiterated his commitment to holding the current administration accountable, criticizing what he described as frail leadership that is “crippling the nation.”

He also condemned the shooting in Kitengela that claimed the life of 28-year-old Vincent Ayomo, attributing the incident to the current regime.

In a statement shared on his social media accounts on Monday, February 16, 2026, the Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General expressed sorrow over Ayomo’s death, calling it a senseless killing.
