Embakasi North MP James Gakuya has ruled out chances that former President Uhuru Kenyatta might have joined forces with President William Ruto ahead of next year's general election.
This is after that two were seen together during the 39th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa alongside Ethiopian Prime Minister H.E. Abiy Ahmed Ali.
Gakuya has claimed that this doesn't mean that Uhuru is now back together with Ruto, maintaining that the former Head of State is actually among those who want to send Ruto home in 2027.
He has alleged that while Ruto might be trying to woo Uhuru for obvious reasons, the Ex-President knows how badly the country needs fresh leadership and is solidly in the united opposition.
According to him, Ruto is trying to be seen with Uhuru as a way of misleading the united opposition that they could be in reunion talks.
“Uhuru has indicated that he is in the opposition, and this is a way of Ruto’s divide-and-rule tactic," he said on Wednesday as reported by the People Daily.
"Uhuru has been in this country and knows where the country ought to be, and no amount of wooing can change his mind to exit the opposition."
He termed this the reason behind the ongoing happenings in the Azimio la Umoja alliance, after Uhuru was seen to have revived the outfit and had Wiped leader Kalonzo Musyoka named it's leader.
Its worth noting that Uhuru's Jubilee Party has even fronted a candidate against Ruto, naming it's Deputy Party Leader and former Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, as it's candidate in the fast approaching election.
In the run up to the 2022 election, Uhuru rallied behind the late Raila Odinga, drumming up support for him against Ruto, who was then his deputy.
