Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has shared the reason why he has become more careful about what he eats and drinks when attending public functions.
The politician said he now prefers food and drinks prepared at home because he wants to feel safe and avoid unnecessary risks.
Speaking during a radio interview, Sifuna explained that advice from some of his supporters made him change his habits.
According to the senator, he now asks his wife to prepare his tea before he leaves home for official duties.
He also carries his own cup and a small thermos flask whenever he attends meetings or events. He said this helps him feel more comfortable instead of taking drinks from different places.
During the interview, he showed the thermos and cup he uses. Although the discussion included some light moments, Sifuna said the decision was important for his personal safety. He explained that it is better to be careful than to ignore possible risks.
Sifuna also revealed that his decision was partly influenced by a message he saw on social media. A Kenyan user had advised him to be more alert about what he consumes in public spaces. Even though the message appeared simple, he said he decided to follow the advice.
After his remarks, many Kenyans reacted online. Some supported his decision and said safety should always come first. Others responded in a playful way, suggesting more ideas on how he could stay cautious.
His comments showed how public leaders sometimes adjust their personal routines to protect themselves while carrying out their duties.
