Huge Blow To Sifuna As ODM Retaliates Against His Planned Rally in Kakamega, Announces Rally in Siaya

According to available sources of news, just hours after embattled Sifuna announced a rally in Kakamega to counter his removal as SG and continue with his anti-ODM move by top leaders to form a coalition with the government, ODM has announced a rival rally at Siaya.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is currently facing a high-stakes internal tug-of-war that has effectively split the party into two warring camps.

On one side stands Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who is fighting a bitter legal and political battle to retain his seat as Secretary-General.

On the other is the party’s official leadership, led by Dr. Oburu Oginga, Wanga who recently moved to oust Sifuna over allegations of indiscipline and his staunch opposition to a proposed partnership with the UDA government.

The friction has now reached a boiling point this week with the announcement of parallel rallies scheduled for Saturday, February 21.

Sifuna, backed by heavyweights like Siaya Governor James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, has organized the “Linda Mwananchi Tour” in Kakamega Town.

This move is seen as a direct challenge to the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) decision to replace him with Catherine Omanyo.

In a swift retaliatory move, the ODM headquarters launched the “Linda Ground Rally,” set to take place at Ahindi Gardens in Siaya Town on the very same day.

Hosted by Hon. Atandi Meli, the Siaya event is clearly designed to reclaim the party’s traditional stronghold and signal that the official party machinery remains under the control of the pro-coalition faction.

This isn't just about a job title, it’s an ideological war. Sifuna’s faction argues they are protecting the party’s original identity from being swallowed by the government.
