Suba South Member of Parliament Caroli Omondi has dismissed President William Ruto’s plan to transform Kenya into a country like Singapore.
Speaking during a televised interview, the lawmaker said the vision lacks a strong foundation. He argued that the country does not have the right systems and structures to support such rapid development.
President Ruto has often shared his dream of making Kenya a self-reliant economy. He has said the country can fund its own major projects by 2055. His plan focuses on infrastructure growth, industrial expansion, and reducing reliance on foreign loans.
Omondi, however, believes the current situation does not support that ambition. He warned that without proper planning and accountability, the country may fail to achieve the expected progress.
He compared the dream to a journey that could easily lose direction before reaching its goal.
Despite his criticism, the MP said he still maintains a personal friendship with the president. However, he made it clear that he will not back Ruto’s re-election bid in the 2027 General Election.
The legislator called for urgent political change. He said Kenya needs a unifying movement that brings together different generations. According to him, compromise among leaders will be necessary to move the country forward.
