EXPOSED: DCI Finally Reveals Who Hired And Paid Goons To Disrupt Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Rally in Kakamega

Fresh details have emerged following violence linked to the Linda Mwananchi rally after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations revealed that some organisers armed supporters, leading to deadly chaos.

In a statement, the DCI said preliminary investigations showed that rally organisers violated the law by hiring, paying and giving goons weapons.

The agency insisted that all political gatherings must remain peaceful and unarmed, warning that failure to do so puts lives at risk and breaks the law.

The DCI strongly condemned the incident that happened on February 21, 2026, in Mbale Town, Vihiga County, where George Olande Otobe, also known as Omundu, lost his life.

According to investigators, Otobe allegedly stabbed Hussein Hassan during an altercation.

This action angered members of the public who turned on him, leading to fatal mob violence.

A knife was recovered at the scene, and Otobe's body was taken to Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary before a postmortem was conducted.

The examination revealed that he died from multiple severe head injuries linked to mob violence.

His body was later moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation.

Identification records showed that Otobe was a boda boda rider from Kisumu County.

The violence occurred near the Linda Mwananchi rally that was held in Kakamega on the same day.

The DCI reminded Kenyans that the Constitution allows public assembly only when it is peaceful and unarmed.

The agency sent condolences to the family of Otobe and wished Hussein Hassan a quick recovery.

Investigations are ongoing, and the DCI said all those responsible, including anyone who hired or armed goons, will face the law.
