A fresh political storm is brewing after President William Ruto’s close aide Farouk Kibet publicly warned former Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta over his ongoing philanthropic activities across the country.
Speaking during a public function on Tuesday, February 18, 2026, Farouk Kibet accused Kenyatta of what he described as “reckless distribution of money,” alleging that the donations were politically motivated and aimed at undermining the current administration.
In his remarks, Kibet claimed that the government would not hesitate to block such activities if they were found to violate public finance or political regulations.
Gachagua further pledged to revive the Linda Mama programme, which offers free maternity services to expectant mothers, claiming that the current administration had scrapped the initiative.
He argued that the programme had significantly reduced maternal deaths and helped vulnerable families access safe delivery services without financial strain.
“Our mothers deserve dignity. Linda Mama was meant to protect them. We will bring it back and make it work better for every Kenyan family,” he said.
The former deputy president accused the current leadership of abandoning key social welfare programmes that had cushioned low-income households.
He maintained that his 2027 presidential bid would focus on restoring what he termed as people-centred policies.
Residents who gathered along the roadside cheered and waved as he spoke, with some chanting his name and urging him to formally declare his candidature.
Gachagua has in recent months intensified his political engagements across various counties, positioning himself as a key contender in the next General Election.
His remarks in Narok signal an early outline of his campaign agenda, centred on education, healthcare and social support for vulnerable groups.
