Wambugu dares Gachagua to match Kindiki by pulling massive crowds during the Christmas giveaway

Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has dared former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to hold a Christmas giveaway at his Wamunyoro home and attract crowds as large as those drawn by Kithure Kindiki at his Irundini residence.

Wambugu, once an ally of Gachagua but now one of his fiercest critics, made the challenge in a statement shared on his social media pages on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. 

He said this would be a true test of Gachagua’s influence in the Mount Kenya region. 

“Weuh! Weuh! Weuh! Who are all these people meeting Kindiki? Do they know what our kingpin Jofri calls him? Sasa Jofri must do something like this hapo Wamunyoro!” Wambugu exclaimed.

The challenge comes after Kindiki’s Christmas giveaway drew thousands of Tharaka Nithi residents to his home. 

The event saw him personally distributing gifts and climbing on trucks handing out food to locals. 

Wambugu questioned whether the massive turnout was real or artificially generated, urging Gachagua to prove his leadership by matching it.

The large crowds at Kindiki’s event highlight his growing political influence. His recent victory in Mbeere North, where his preferred UDA candidate defeated the opposition-backed candidate, further cements his standing in the region.

Meanwhile, Gachagua has maintained a low profile during the festive season but appeared briefly with his wife to wish Kenyans a happy holiday. He encouraged citizens to share with those less fortunate.
