Parents, teachers, and Grade 9 learners across the country can now breathe a sigh of relief after the government opened access to the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results.
The Ministry of Education confirmed on Thursday, December 4, that learners can start checking their performance using a simple SMS service.
This year’s KJSEA exam, taken between October 27 and November 3, 2025, was a major milestone in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
The assessment was meant to measure whether learners are ready to transition into senior secondary school as the country fully shifts into the new system.
How to Access the KJSEA Results
According to a notice issued through Kenya’s leading telecommunications company, results can now be obtained by sending an SMS to 22263.
The service is available to parents, teachers, and learners countrywide.
To check the results:
1. Open your SMS app
2. Type the learner’s assessment number
3. Send to 22263
4. You will receive the full results shortly
The SMS costs Ksh30, and the message includes the learner’s performance and the list of schools they qualify for based on their career pathway selections.
Officials noted that the system has been designed to handle large traffic, given that over one million learners sat for the examinations this year.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba earlier stated that the release of the results marks the beginning of the transition process into senior secondary schools.
The government has promised a smooth process to ensure all learners move to the next level without delays.
Learners will be placed in schools that match their interests and future career paths, a key pillar of the CBC. The selected pathways include:
Arts and Sports Science
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
Social Sciences and Community Development
Once placement is completed, students are expected to receive their admission letters before December 25, giving families enough time to prepare. Reporting to the new schools is expected to begin on January 12, 2026.
Basic Education PS Julius Bitok had earlier promised that the results would be released by December 11, and the latest update confirms that the ministry is on schedule.
Speaking during a press briefing on November 17, Bitok assured the country that the ministry was fully prepared for the transition of the large number of learners.
He noted that the government had worked closely with schools to ensure enough spaces are available across all senior secondary institutions.
As the results start rolling out, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has cautioned the public against falling for fake promises by fraudsters claiming to “change” exam results.
KNEC revealed that it had received several reports of individuals posing as insiders and offering to manipulate students’ marks for money.
The council emphasised that exam results are secure and cannot be altered by any individual.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 3, KNEC CEO David Njengere urged parents and teachers to ignore such schemes and rely only on official communication from the Ministry of Education and KNEC.
With the results now accessible, the placement process will begin immediately.
The Ministry of Education has indicated that placement will take about a week after all results are released.
Parents are advised to check results early to avoid last-minute rushes. Schools are also expected to guide learners on the pathways available and assist them in planning for the January 2026 reporting date.
