Drama As Boni Khalwale Arrives Carrying The Torch That Will Allegedly Be Placed Inside Cyrus Jirongo's Coffin

A large crowd gathered in Lumakanda as the body of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo arrived ahead of his burial.

The atmosphere was heavy with emotion as residents, leaders, and supporters lined the roads to pay their last respects.

The procession traveled from Jirongo’s home in Kitale, drawing attention across towns and villages along the route.

As the hearse passed, mourners stood silently, many waving and others bowing their heads in tribute to a man who played a major role in national and regional politics.

At the center of the ceremony was Senator Boni Khalwale, who was seen holding a lit torch meant to be placed inside the coffin.

The act symbolized honor and remembrance, reflecting the deep respect many leaders held for Jirongo’s contribution to public life.

As preparations continued, disagreements emerged around burial traditions. A section of Tiriki elders pushed for a ritual associated with deaths considered violent.

The practice involves creating a temporary entrance at the back of the homestead for the body to pass through.
