Mining and Blue Economy CS Hassan Joho has openly welcomed President William Ruto’s presence at recent celebrations, saying there is no reason to question it.
Speaking to local journalists, Joho reminded everyone that President Ruto is a founding member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the party that has played a central role in Kenya’s political landscape.
Joho explained that politics should not always divide people, especially when it comes to moments of celebration. He said, “It’s a fact that President Ruto helped start ODM.
Coming here to celebrate with us is nothing unusual. Politics aside, we should be able to share these moments as Kenyans.”
The CS also urged citizens to focus on unity rather than conflict, noting that national development requires cooperation, even among leaders with differing political views.
“When we allow politics to overshadow human connections, we all lose. We can respect our differences and still celebrate achievements together,” Joho said.
He highlighted that Kenya has a long history of leaders crossing political lines to attend significant events, reflecting maturity in political engagement.
According to Joho, such gestures are not signs of betrayal but of mutual respect and recognition of shared history.
The CS also emphasized that celebrations like these are important for communities.
They bring people together, strengthen relationships, and offer an opportunity to reflect on progress.
Joho suggested that political leaders have a duty to set a positive example by showing that differences in opinion do not have to result in division.
