Wambugu Slams Gachagua: How Do You Register a Party While Fighting the State & Mocking ‘Wheelbarrow’

Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has once again waded into the political scene, this time targeting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a strongly-worded post shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, September 27, 2025, Wambugu questioned the practicality of Gachagua’s attempts to register his newly unveiled political outfit, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

Wambugu observed that even in normal circumstances, registering a political party in Kenya is not a simple process.

He argued that the hurdles become almost insurmountable when the individual seeking registration has positioned himself as a declared and sworn enemy of the state while consistently attacking those in power.

Do you know how difficult it is to register a new party in ordinary circumstances? Do you know it becomes almost impossible to do so as a declared & sworn enemy of the state and while insulting them daily?, Wambugu posed.

The former legislator ridiculed Gachagua’s efforts, questioning how the ex-deputy president could expect cooperation from state agencies under such a strained relationship.

He further mocked Gachagua for branding his rivals with derogatory terms such as “wheelbarrow,” suggesting that the same dismissive politics may come back to haunt him.

Wambugu’s remarks highlight the growing tension surrounding Gachagua’s political resurgence and the credibility of his new party.

As the country inches closer to the 2027 elections, the battle for dominance in opposition and ruling ranks appears to be intensifying, with sharp exchanges now defining the political climate.
