"Safisha Takataka" Abusive Kibra MP Peter Orero Mock Critics With Cryptic Post After Backlash For Breaking Traffic Rules

Police are closely following an incident involving Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero after a viral video showed him insulting CNN journalist Larry Madowo along a busy Nairobi road.

The video, which spread fast on social media, sparked anger among Kenyans who accused the lawmaker of arrogance and impunity.

According to eyewitnesses, the MP’s vehicle was spotted driving on the wrong side of the road on Thursday, October 9. Larry Madowo, who was driving in the correct lane, blocked Orero’s car, forcing the politician’s driver to stop.

Instead of apologizing, Orero was heard shouting and using abusive language, daring Madowo to report him to President William Ruto.

In the video, he could be heard shouting, “Peleka kwa Ruto, taka taka!” as his driver joined in the insults.

The footage quickly went viral, attracting widespread criticism from Kenyans. Many people described Orero’s behaviour as shameful and a clear display of the arrogance that has long been associated with some politicians.

Others said that as a leader and former teacher, Orero should have demonstrated good manners and respect for the law.

But instead of apologizing, the Kibra MP chose to mock his critics. A day after the video circulated, Orero shared a post on Facebook that many saw as sarcastic.

He posted a photo of himself planting trees during the National Environment Day celebrations and captioned it, “Take care of your environment, safisha takataka. Happy Mazingira Day!”

The message, which repeated the same “takataka” insult he used on Madowo, was interpreted as a direct response to the backlash.

Social media users flooded his comment section, calling him out for being unapologetic and mocking the public.

Many reminded him that the power he holds was given by the same people he was now disrespecting.

Faced with growing criticism, Orero later disabled the comment section on his post. Still, Kenyans continued to express their disappointment, with some residents from Kibra vowing not to re-elect him in 2027.

Many Kenyans believe Orero should publicly apologize and face consequences for breaking traffic laws and abusing a journalist.
