RIP: Beautiful Photo Of Young Woman Shot Dead Outside Homa Bay Police Station By Cop While Mourning Baba's Death

A woman who was shot dead outside Homa Bay Police Station after a police constable fired a gun in the air to disperse a crowd that had gathered during a vigil for the late former Prime Minister has left the community in pain and anger.

The tragic incident which happened on the night of Thursday has caused outrage with mourners demanding justice for the young mother of two.

The mourners had been peacefully marching since Wednesday before some of them attempted to enter the police station compound.

Officers on duty reportedly tried to repel the group after some individuals began throwing stones. In the chaos, a stray bullet hit the woman, who was heading home from her business.

She was rushed to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead around 2 a.m.

on Friday, October 17, due to excessive bleeding from a thigh wound. Authorities said the situation escalated after unruly elements infiltrated the peaceful crowd.

The officer responsible has since been placed in custody as the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) lead investigations.

Police confirmed that the officer is being held at an undisclosed location for safety reasons. They expressed regret over the fatal shooting and assured the public that justice will be served.

The authorities also urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue to determine the exact events that led to the woman’s death.

A resident who used to buy tea and snacks from the deceased described her as a kind and hardworking woman who was soft-spoken and full of life.

Many residents have since joined in mourning, remembering her as a humble and dedicated mother who worked hard to provide for her family.

Even though not much is known about her personal life, she is said to have had two children who attended a nearby school.

The community continues to express sorrow over her loss calling for accountability and justice from the police.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with Kenyans demanding swift action against those responsible and justice for the victim’s family.
