Public Uproar As Photo Emerge Showing How A Mourner Was Forcefully Removed From Restricted Areas In Kisumu During Raila’s Body Viewing

A dramatic scene unfolded at Mamboleo Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday when a mourner was forcefully removed by security officers after invading a restricted area reserved for dignitaries during the state funeral of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The incident occurred shortly before the arrival of Raila’s body momentarily disrupting the otherwise solemn atmosphere inside the packed stadium.

According to eyewitnesses, the man, dressed in a white shirt and clutching a small flag bearing Raila’s image, slipped past the security cordon and dashed toward the main podium where senior government officials were seated.

Alert officers from the Kenya Police and the Kenya Defence Forces quickly intercepted him before he could reach the inner circle. They overpowered him and escorted him out as the crowd watched in silence.

For several minutes, the mood inside the stadium was tense as murmurs spread among the mourners. Some shouted for his release, arguing that emotions were high and that the man had only wanted to get closer to pay his last respects to his political hero.

However, security officials insisted that the area was restricted and that no unauthorized person was allowed near the podium due to strict state protocols.

The man was later taken to a nearby security tent for questioning. Officials confirmed that he was unarmed and that the situation had been contained.

“We understand the grief and emotions today, but we must also maintain order,” one senior officer said. “This is a state function, and we must ensure the safety of all leaders and mourners present.”

Despite the brief interruption, the ceremony continued smoothly after the incident. Choirs resumed singing solemn hymns as the crowd joined in unison waving flags and chanting “Jowi! Jowi! Baba!” The emotional atmosphere soon returned to normal as the hearse carrying Raila Odinga’s body made its grand entry into the stadium.

Thousands of mourners from across the country had gathered at Mamboleo to pay their last respects to the veteran leader, whose political career shaped Kenya’s democracy for decades.

Security remained tight throughout the event, with heavy police and military presence around the grounds.

The incident served as a reminder of the deep emotions surrounding Raila’s passing, as many Kenyans continued to express their admiration, pain, and devotion to a man they considered not just a politician but a symbol of hope and struggle.
