A defiant new video has surfaced showing Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang’i laughing together, a calculated move designed to silence the widespread rumours that their opposition alliance was falling apart.
The clip was shared with a punchy caption aimed at their critics: "Whoever thinks opposition will divide is in for a rude shock."
The powerful alliance had appeared to be on shaky ground just days earlier. The trouble started when Dr. Fred Matiang’i made a high-profile appearance at the Jubilee Party's National Delegates Conference, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his long-time boss, former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
With other key opposition figures absent, critics and online trolls immediately claimed that Matiang’i was abandoning the coalition to go it alone.
These internal tensions were then thrown into the open. Jubilee's own Secretary-General publicly accused another coalition partner, Rigathi Gachagua, of trying to bully Dr. Matiang'i during closed-door meetings.
This explosive claim gave the impression of a coalition in complete chaos, with insiders fighting amongst themselves and on the brink of a messy divorce.
However, the new video completely changes the narrative. Dr. Matiang'i, by appearing so comfortable with Kalonzo, is sending a clear message: he is not going anywhere.
His recent moves are now being seen as a clever strategy, likely with Uhuru Kenyatta's approval, to strengthen his own political base within Jubilee, not to break away from the main opposition front.
The two leaders are showing the public that their eyes are firmly on the main prize. This isn't just a casual meeting; it is a public declaration of unity.
It tells their supporters and, more importantly, their rivals, that despite the internal politics and public spats, the mission to build a formidable force to challenge the government in 2027 is still moving ahead at full speed.Click here.
