Residents of Kerugoya town in Kirinyaga County are living in fear after a group of four daring thieves was caught on camera robbing innocent pedestrians in broad daylight.
According to footage making rounds online, the gang – made up of two men and two women – has been moving around the busy streets, pretending to be ordinary passersby.
What shocked many is how the women seem to play a key role in luring victims before the rest of the group strikes.
In the CCTV video, one of the women approaches unsuspecting pedestrians, pretending to ask for help or directions.

In the CCTV video, one of the women approaches unsuspecting pedestrians, pretending to ask for help or directions.
Just as the victim gets distracted, her partners suddenly appear, grab valuables like phones and wallets, and quickly disappear into nearby alleys.
The gang operates with frightening coordination, as if they have rehearsed every move.
Eyewitnesses say the group targets people walking alone or those busy on their phones.
“They look harmless, even friendly. You’d never suspect them,” said one resident who narrowly escaped an attack.
Another witness said that one of the women was seen kicking a man who had already fallen after being robbed, sparking outrage among locals.
Police officers in Kirinyaga have since launched a full investigation and are using the CCTV footage to track down the suspects.
County Commander Julius Mugo confirmed that a manhunt is underway, urging members of the public to share any information that might help identify the criminals.
“This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated. We are following every lead to ensure they are arrested and face the law,” he said.
The incident has raised serious security concerns in Kerugoya, where residents are now calling for increased patrols, especially in the evenings.
Local business owners have also been warned to remain cautious, as the gang often strikes near shops and bus stages.
For now, the people of Kirinyaga remain on edge, hoping police will move fast to end the gang’s operations.
Authorities have also reminded citizens to stay alert, avoid isolated routes, and report any suspicious individuals immediately.
