We Will Support Ruto From Now to 2027, 2032 and Going Forward, CS Joho Declares

Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy Hassan Joho has officially declared his full support for President William Ruto’s leadership, pledging to back him in the 2027 presidential election and in the years that follow.

Speaking at a public event, Joho stated that as ODM party, they are going to fully support Ruto's re-election in 2027 until 2032 and even thereafter.

“We assure President Ruto of our utmost support. We will support Ruto from now to 2027, 2032 and going forward. That is our commitment," he stated

Joho, a former Mombasa Governor and once a strong critic of Ruto, served as Deputy Party Leader in the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

His appointment as a Cabinet Secretary marked a major political shift, and now he’s joining a growing list of ODM-allied leaders who are openly backing the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi is also among those showing loyalty to the president. While leading a national tree planting campaign during Mazingira Day in Kericho County in October 2024, Wandayi echoed Joho’s sentiments. He said ODM was fully committed to working with the Ruto administration beyond the 2027 elections.

“I am confident that our political partnership will continue even after the 2027 elections. We are fully behind President Ruto. This is not by chance, we are in government and the government is stable,” Wandayi said in Kiswahili.

He urged citizens to protect and support the current administration so it can deliver on its promises and lead the country forward.

The remarks comes at a time when Ruto is preparing to visit Raila Odinga's Nyanza region in the coming days to unveil a number of development projects.

Raila has remained skeptical on his support for Ruto in 2027 despite calls by a number of opposition leaders to consider running for presidency again
