A family in Uthiru, Nairobi, has been left in deep sorrow after their 26-year-old kin, Faith Binzali, died at St Joseph the Worker Catholic Health Centre in
Kangemi shortly after delivering her first child.
Relatives alleged that Faith lost her life due to medical negligence during a caesarean section.
They claimed that doctors administered an overdose of anaesthesia, which caused complications that eventually led to her death.
Her father painfully recounted the events of the tragic day, saying that the family had initially received good news when medics confirmed that Faith had safely delivered a baby boy.
He explained that the joy quickly turned into grief after the situation changed unexpectedly.
He further narrated that he was later informed his daughter had not survived.
He said he was asked to sit down before being told that doctors had tried their best but could not save her life.
Rushing into the ward, he reportedly found his daughter soaked in blood, with no doctor around to explain what had happened.
The grieving family revealed that an autopsy showed Faith died from lack of oxygen to the brain and an excessive dose of anaesthesia.
They demanded answers and accountability from the hospital.
Attempts to get a response from the facility’s management were unsuccessful, though nurses at the hospital expressed regret off camera.
Police have since launched investigations into the incident, with officers recording statements from key witnesses as the family continues to seek justice.
For now, Faith’s family is left mourning not only the loss of a daughter but also the pain of unanswered questions surrounding her final moments.
