Natembeya Quits Kenya Moja, Hints at Raila’s Possible Return to Opposition Ahead of 2027

George Natembeya, Deputy Leader of DAP-Kenya, has formally distanced himself from the Kenya Moja political movement, saying it lacks a clear vision to challenge the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Speaking to Taifa Leo, Natembeya dismissed claims that he founded Kenya Moja, which is led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Githunguri MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba.

He insisted that his political efforts remain within the united opposition committed to meaningful change.

“I am not part of Kenya Moja. It is a faction without a shared agenda. To remove the Ruto administration, we must stand united. Trial-and-error alliances will not work,” Natembeya stated.

He criticized ODM leader Raila Odinga for supporting President William Ruto, calling it a betrayal of Kenyans who trusted him to drive transformative reforms.

Natembeya hinted that Raila still has a role to play in the opposition.

“Raila can return to the opposition. His political credibility is at risk if he remains aligned with Kenya Kwanza,” he said.

He emphasized that Kenyans need leaders who represent their interests without being influenced by government positions or secret agreements.

Natembeya warned that creating political alliances outside the united opposition benefits President Ruto and confuses genuine opposition supporters.

He stressed the importance of selecting a single opposition candidate through citizen participation rather than decisions made by a few individuals behind closed doors.

Currently, Natembeya positions himself within the core opposition alongside leaders such as Rigathi Gachagua (DCP), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Martha Karua (PLP), Dr. Fred Matiang’i, Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-K), and Justin Muturi (DP), advocating for a cohesive front ahead of the 2027 elections.
