A section of President William Ruto's UDA party leaders from the Kipsigis community have sent out a tough warning to President William Ruto just a day after five people were killed over a land dispute in Angata Baragoi in Narok county.
Speaking during a peace meeting with security personnel in Kilgoris on Tuesday, the Kipsigis leaders, led by Belgut MP Nelson Koech and Emurua Dikkir MP Johanna Ngeno challenged Ruto, saying he should consider solving the land issue being faced by Angata Baragoi residents or risk losing the Kipsigis community in 2027.
While addressing the residents, Belgut MP Nelson Koech, who is one of William Ruto's close confidants, warned that Ruto should choose between hearing the cries of Angata people or risk losing their support in 2027.
"We are going to tell Ruto to choose two things, it's either amwage unga, ama asuluishe mambo za Angata Baragoi, mambo ni mawili, he should solve this, or risk losing Kipsigis people," warned Belgut MP Nelson Koech.
The leaders said they were ready to defend the community despite the high positions they hold in government. They wondered why their people were facing challenges when they are in government, saying Ruto should listen to the elders and also to his people and solve their problems.
They challenged Ruto to consider listening to advice from the elders and learn the history of their land in Angata Baragoi.
"We still need to hold a meeting and speak with the king, We need to meet him and teach him the history of Angata Baragoi so that our people can be liberated," warned MP Ngeno
At the same time, the leaders led by MP Ngong sent a tough warning to CS Murkomen, saying his remarks after the incident were so unfortunate. They warned him to consider apologizing to the community and stop uttering reckless remarks after six people had been killed.
