Inside Ruto-Gachagua’s Alleged Secret Dealings Ahead of 2027 Elections – Kioni

Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni has claimed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is still working closely with President William Ruto, despite public disagreements.

Speaking over the weekend during an interview with a local radio station, Kioni said that Gachagua disclosed to a group of leaders, including pastors, that Ruto had already sent emissaries to initiate political negotiations.

According to Kioni, this discussion occurred in Gachagua’s office with around 15 people present. He added that Gachagua described a plan to mobilize their respective political bases before formal negotiations.

“He said it himself—Ruto has sent emissaries, and they’ve agreed to mobilize their bases before sitting at the table,” Kioni alleged.

Kioni further claimed Gachagua outlined how he would divide political influence, including allocating a share to the Maasai community. The meeting reportedly involved multiple pastors who confirmed the conversation.

Gachagua also spoke about vote projections from the Mt. Kenya region, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and former CS Fred Matiang’i, hinting at a future power-sharing arrangement.

He allegedly assured Narok Township MCA aspirant Joshua Ole Kaputa that he would be nominated later despite being denied a party ticket, stating, “Don’t cry… we’ll nominate you when the time comes.”

Kioni warned that such backroom deals could deepen divisions within the opposition, which is still struggling to agree on a 2027 presidential candidate.

He stressed that Jubilee will work only with parties committed to removing Ruto from office, rejecting alliances based on tactical vote-sharing.

“We want partners who believe in real change,” Kioni said.
