Eugene Wamalwa Raise Concerns, Claims What Ruto is Planning to do With Gen Zs

Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has raised concern over what he says is a secret plan by President William Ruto to sponsor a youth (Gen Z) presidential candidate in the upcoming 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a public gathering, Wamalwa claimed that Ruto is already trying to push a Gen Z candidate to divide the opposition and weaken their chances in the election.

“It would be a mistake for Gen Z to have their own candidate in 2027. I’m aware that Ruto is already trying to sponsor some Gen Z candidates," he claimed.

He added that while the youth are energetic, organized, and influential, they may not yet have the numbers or resources to win on their own, especially when facing a well-funded and experienced incumbent like Ruto.

“Gen Z has the power to shape the future of this country. But they need to work with us in the opposition so that we can unite and send Ruto home," he added.

Wamalwa urged young voters not to fall into political traps meant to confuse and divide them.

He said the youth movement seen in protests and activism in recent months shows that they are ready for leadership, but he believes teaming up with experienced leaders will make their voices even stronger.

His comments come at a time when political activity is already heating up across the country, with new alliances forming ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wamalwa is part of a growing opposition team that includes key figures such as Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Fred Matiang’i, a group he says is determined to build a united front to remove Ruto from power.

The question now remains whether Gen Z leaders will go it alone or join forces with seasoned politicians in the race for change.
