Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto after the High Court temporarily suspended the creation of a panel of experts meant to oversee compensation for victims of protests.
On Monday, Justice Kizito Magare ruled that the petition against the panel was urgent and needed to be heard before the presidential directive could take effect.
The judge ordered that the commencement of the panel’s mandate and the implementation of Gazette Notice No. 12002 of August 25, 2025, be suspended until the case is fully argued in court.
The Gazette notice had announced the formation of the panel, which was to design a framework for reparations to victims of demonstrations and public protests.
However, with the suspension in place, the respondents were barred from enforcing or acting on the proclamation until the matter is determined.
Justice Magare further directed that the respondents and interested parties be served immediately and respond within seven days.
The applicant will then have three days to file submissions, with the hearing scheduled no later than September 24, 2025.
Following the ruling, Ahmednasir, through his X account, criticized the judiciary and claimed that President Ruto should have seen it coming.
He alleged that certain judges, whom he referred to as part of “JurisPESA,” had teamed up to derail the president’s agenda and weaken his reelection strategy.
“When I told H.E. @WilliamsRuto that JurisPESA judges have ganged up to fight and derail his agenda and his reelection strategy, he didn’t believe me.
Mr. President, please smell the
coffee. You have two options, Mr. President: fight back or surrender on Wamunyoro’s terms,” Ahmednasir posted.
