"Uhuru Can't Save Ruto" Gachagua's DCP Sends Warning After Uhuru-Ruto State House Meeting

The meeting between President William Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta at has caused mixed reactions, especially to veteran politicians who turned to be bitter enemies in the run up of 2022 elections.

The two leaders, once close allies before falling out ahead of the 2022 election, when Kenyatta endorsed Raila Odinga, still differ on the political leadership direction of the country.

After the meeting, President Ruto wrote a post on his social media account referring to Uhuru Kenyatta as “my true friend.

Although the State House visit followed peace talks about Congo and appeared routine, political analysts suggest it may have carried a deeper message.

However, in reacting to this unexpected development, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua dismissed the event, with Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala calling it “mere optics.”

“We know Uhuru was at State House for Congo peace efforts and as a former president he has the right to visit. But we’re not shaken by such photo ops. That meeting won’t save Ruto from being a one-term president,” said Malala.
