Political analyst and University of Nairobi lecturer Professor Herman Manyora has warned ODM secretary general and Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna from a direct confrontation with former prime minister Raila Odinga.

Prof Manyora also warned Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, noting that they have chances to defy all odds to win elective seats in 2027 elections without Raila's endorsement.

According to Prof Manyora, any direct attack to Raila Odinga in the region perceived to be his political stronghold would result in a political humiliation and defeat.

"If you are within Raila's constituency, or if you are a leader in a place where Raila has widespread support, and you are a Raila supporter, you are in ODM. Being seen to be fighting Raila directly will spell doom for you. You can disagree with Raila and still win, but being seen fighting Raila directly will spell disaster for you," he noted.

Referring to recent political turmoil in the ODM party following the formation of a broad-based government, Prof. Manyora warned that while ODM leaders are free to disagree with Raila, being seen to be in open confrontation with him will be the political suicide for ODM leaders.
