"Prepare For a Surprise" ODM MP Hints On What Could Happen In 2027 Instead Of Supporting Ruto

Orange Democratic Movement ODM party is sending mixed signals over the possibility of their party leader Raila Odinga throwing his weight behind president William Ruto's re-election bid in 2027 presidential elections.

In recent weeks, the ODM boss has been speaking from both sides of the tongue, sometimes defending president William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza administration, and on the other hand criticizing the regime.

However, according to Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo, ODM could avoid to back president William Ruto in the next presidential elections.

Speaking on Saturday, 2 August, 2025, the vocal ODM legislator dismissed the ongoing rumours that President William Ruto might receive automatic support from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in the 2027 General Election.

She stated that, as they seek possible negotiations with like-minded people, a political negotiation with President William Ruto in 2027 may take unexpected turns, including asking Ruto to support Raila Odinga instead.

Nevertheless, the vocal MP stated that ODM is committed to their agreement with Kenya Kwanza administration and the Broad-Based Government is here to stay despite ruling out a possible automatic support for president Ruto.

"We have agreed to support the broad-based arrangements through 2027 in order to stabilize the country. And we are not obligated to support Ruto. Even Raila Odinga, we can ask Honourable Ruto to support him; it is a matter of negotiation," the MP stated.
