Grief as Businessman Allegedly Kills Son After Bitter Quarell With Wife Over Romantic Text Message

A woman pleaded for justice after her husband allegedly killed their three-year-old son.

Residents of Kipkosil village in Kericho County have been left in shock after a domestic dispute turned tragic, leading to the death of a three-year-old boy.

According to locals, the child, identified as Jayden Kiprono, was allegedly attacked by his father, Victor Bii, after a heated quarrel with his wife.

The incident occurred on the night of Monday, August 25, 2025.

Witnesses said the dispute started when Bii confronted his wife, Lorine Bor, over a suspicious message found on her phone. The quarrel escalated quickly, and he reportedly attempted to attack her.

Bor managed to escape, but their son was left behind. Moments later, neighbours said they heard distressing screams before learning that the child had been struck with a hammer.

Jayden was rushed to AIC Litein Mission Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. His body has since been taken to the hospital mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examination.

Speaking to the media, a heartbroken Lorine Bor said she had narrowly escaped death herself.

“My husband said he would kill both of us. I managed to run, but when I came back, my son had been killed. I want justice for him,” she pleaded.

Neighbours described the suspect as violent and said they were unable to overpower him during the incident because he was armed.

The Bureti Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCIO) confirmed the incident and appealed to the suspect to surrender.

“We urge him to present himself at any police station. He knows he is responsible, and we will not stop searching for him,” said DCIO Mary Wanjiku.

The Kericho case is not isolated. In Nyatike, Migori County, a man identified as Benard Odinga was fatally stabbed by his stepson during a domestic conflict.

Locals said tensions between the two had been simmering since Odinga married the young man’s mother as his second wife. The suspect fled after the attack, leaving Odinga’s body by the roadside.

In another case reported in Baraton, Nandi County, a quarrel between Daniel Kipkorir and his wife led to the killing of his brother-in-law, Geoffrey Kimutai.

Witnesses said Kipkorir drew a knife during a confrontation and fatally stabbed Kimutai in the chest and shoulder.
