Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has announced he will use a calm and solution-based approach as he prepares for the 2027 general election.
He made the statement on Saturday, July 26, 2025, while speaking at a public forum covered by Tuko.News.
Matiang’i said he plans to stay away from the loud and confrontational style used by some politicians, including President William Ruto, Raila Odinga, and Rigathi Gachagua.
Instead, he promised to remain respectful and focus on what matters to ordinary Kenyans—better leadership and real change.
“I will not insult anyone or use abusive language,” Matiang’i said.
“That energy is not helpful. I want to use my time to solve the problems facing Kenyans.”
According to him, Kenya’s main problem is not lack of money but poor leadership and bad governance. He believes the country has enough resources and talented people but lacks honest leaders who can manage them well.
“Our country does not suffer because of poverty. It suffers because of how we run our affairs. What we need is proper leadership, unity, and serious commitment to service,” Matiang’i stated.
He also urged Kenyans to prepare early for the next election by registering as voters. He said real change can only happen if citizens participate actively in choosing leaders.
“If we want to shape our future, we must show up and vote,” he said.
“Don’t sit and complain. Let’s all register and be ready to decide who leads us.”
Political observers say Matiang’i’s style is likely to attract support from voters tired of bitter politics and personal attacks.
Unlike other leaders who rely on tribal support or political fights, Matiang’i says he wants to speak to all Kenyans with one message—peace, unity, and progress.
His announcement signals the start of what could be a fresh chapter in Kenya’s politics as the country prepares for the 2027 elections.
