RIP: Last Words Dr Job Obwaka Told His Wife Before He Died Hours Later

Fresh details have emerged about the final hours of Job Obwaka after his widow emotionally recounted the last conversation they shared before his sudden death.

Speaking during a requiem service held at CITAM Valley Road, Everose Chemtai described how the day had started normally before tragedy struck hours later.

According to Everose, the couple spent the morning together at home sharing breakfast after the doctor woke her up early following his morning preparations.

She told mourners that they remained together for several hours before Dr Obwaka prepared to leave the house.

The widow recalled that before departing, the respected medic complimented her hairstyle and handed her KSh10,000 to visit a salon.

She further revealed that when she asked him about lunch arrangements, he reportedly told her they would instead meet later for dinner.

According to Everose, those became the final words her husband spoke to her before leaving home.

A few hours later, Dr Obwaka reportedly collapsed in the Milimani area of Kitengela and was rushed to The Nairobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The sudden death of the renowned gynaecologist and obstetrician shocked colleagues, friends and members of the public, with many mourning him as a dedicated medical professional.

During the emotional memorial service, Everose also alleged that her husband had recently been living under pressure linked to legal disputes involving the hospital.

She claimed that a senior individual had allegedly contacted Dr Obwaka and urged him to withdraw a matter he had filed at the High Court.

According to the widow, the incident left the doctor increasingly anxious and fearful about his safety.

She alleged that he would sometimes ask family members to check on him if he stayed away for several hours without communication.

Everose further claimed that the late doctor experienced emotional distress after being arrested weeks before his death while allegedly heading to attend to pregnant patients waiting for treatment.

According to her, the stress surrounding the case may have negatively affected his health and contributed to his untimely death.

The widow, however, did not provide medical evidence linking the alleged stress directly to the doctor’s collapse.

Throughout the memorial service, Everose described Dr Obwaka as a loving husband, caring father and committed doctor who dedicated his life to serving patients.

She said despite the pain of losing him suddenly, she wanted him to rest peacefully knowing he was deeply loved by his family.

The memorial attracted friends, relatives, medical professionals and mourners who gathered to celebrate the doctor’s life and legacy.

Dr Obwaka’s death has continued to generate public discussion, particularly amid ongoing wrangles and legal disputes linked to the leadership of The Nairobi Hospital.

Meanwhile, condolence messages have continued pouring in from Kenyans mourning the late medic and remembering him for his contribution to healthcare and patient care.
