Bad News for President Ruto as People From His Own Region Break Into “Wantam” Chants

President William Ruto is facing fresh political pressure after residents of Emurua Dikirr broke into loud “Wantam” chants during an address linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of the constituency’s parliamentary by-election.

The incident, which unfolded during a political gathering in the constituency, highlighted the growing influence of anti-government political messaging in regions previously considered strongholds of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Large crowds reportedly gathered to listen to Gachagua’s remarks delivered through a phone call as he campaigned for Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Vincent Kibet Rotich.
