Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has sharply criticized law enforcement agencies following the violent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, urging immediate action based on information already circulating among Kisumu residents.
In a statement shared on April 9, 2026—also echoed in his latest Facebook post—Sifuna pointed out that members of the public have already identified both the suspected attackers and the individual believed to have financed the assault.
According to him, this level of public cooperation should make the work of investigators significantly easier and faster.
The attack occurred on April 8 in Kisumu, leaving Osotsi injured before he was airlifted to Nairobi for specialized treatment. While his condition has since stabilized, the incident has sparked widespread concern and political tension.
Sifuna questioned why no arrests have been made despite what he described as “actionable intelligence” readily available to authorities. He argued that the delay reflects poorly on investigative agencies and raises concerns about commitment to justice.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has condemned the attack, calling it brazen and cowardly.
Detectives say they are reviewing forensic evidence, including CCTV footage, which they believe holds key clues. However, they have not provided a clear timeline for arrests.
Siaya Governor James Orengo has also weighed in, expressing frustration over what he termed as slow progress. He suggested that the lack of arrests, despite widely circulated visual evidence, could indicate possible interference.
As pressure mounts, the public continues to demand accountability. Sifuna’s remarks, amplified through social media, reflect growing impatience among leaders and citizens alike, with many insisting that justice for Osotsi must not be delayed.
