National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah spoke about the late MP Johana Ng’eno, who represented Emurua Dikirr Constituency.
While sending his condolences, Ichung’wah used the moment to address political tensions in Parliament.
He criticized the United Opposition team led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claiming that some people seemed to have celebrated Ng’eno’s death. Ichung’wah, however, said it was not true and called it a “political play game.”
Ichung’wah argued that opposition leaders were using the situation to score political points rather than focus on mourning and respecting the late legislator.
His remarks came amid heightened political tensions in the House, showing that even moments of grief can become political.
He urged MPs and political leaders to focus on the work of Parliament and serving Kenyans instead of using tragedy for political gain.
Ichung’wah’s comments highlighted the deep divisions that remain between the ruling party and the opposition.
