Edwin Sifuna has said that there is no longer any document that connects his party to United Democratic Alliance. According to him, the agreement that once brought the two sides together officially expired on March 7.
He explained that after that date passed, the document stopped having any power and it cannot be used to tie the two parties together anymore.
While speaking during a public event, Sifuna said some people are still talking as if the agreement is active, yet the truth is that it has already ended.
He made it clear that the document had a specific time written on it, and once that time reached the end, the agreement also finished.
He said that is how official agreements work, and leaders must respect what is written in those documents.
The outspoken senator explained that once an agreement expires, it simply means the parties involved are no longer bound by it. He said his party is now free and cannot be forced to follow something that has already reached its end.
According to him, there is no other document that continues to link them to UDA after March 7.Sifuna also said that Kenyans should not be confused by political talk that tries to suggest that the agreement is still alive.
He insisted that the reality is simple and clear. The agreement had a beginning date and an ending date, and the ending date has already passed.
He added that political parties must always be honest with the public about such matters.
According to him, leaders should not pretend that an expired agreement is still working. He said wananchi deserve to know the truth about what is happening in the political space.
Sifuna further explained that politics in the country keeps changing every day. Because of that, parties must be ready to make new decisions based on the current situation. He said once an agreement ends, parties can sit down again and decide what they want to do next.
In the end, Sifuna said leaders must now focus on issues that affect ordinary Kenyans. He said the most important things are reducing the cost of living, creating jobs for young people, and making life easier for struggling families across the country.
He insisted that the expired agreement should not be used to confuse the public because, according to him, it already came to an end on March 7.
