DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua on Monday lightly confronted a young man during a political stopover in Makueni over comments about when to vote out President William Ruto.
While addressing residents, Gachagua urged locals to be vigilant and wake up as early as 1 a.m. on election day to cast their votes against Ruto.
However, a youth from the crowd shouted, saying they would wake up at 5 a.m.
The remark appeared to disappoint Gachagua, who responded by urging the Kamba community to take elections seriously.
In a light-hearted moment, he jokingly called for the youth to be “arrested” over his statement.
“Huyu kijana akamatwe, Wakamba usiletee mchezo. Masaa ya kufukuza Ruto ni saa saba usiku. Huyo ni mtu mbaya sana. Huwezi mfukuza saa kumi na moja,” Gachagua said.
This loosely translates to: “This young man should be arrested, Kamba people don’t bring jokes here. The time to remove Ruto is at 1 a.m. He is a very difficult person. You cannot remove him at 5 a.m.”
Other leaders present were Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, DP Party leader Justin Muturi among others
