Police have told the court that there was no attempt to hide information in the disappearance of security analyst Mwenda Mbijiwe.
While testifying in court, officers from the National Police Service said investigations into the case have been ongoing since the day Mbijiwe was reported missing.
One of the officers dismissed claims that police were covering up the matter.
“There is no cover-up by the police regarding the disappearance of Mwenda Mbijiwe,” the officer told the court.
Mbijiwe, a former officer in the Kenya Air Force and a security analyst, disappeared in June 2021.
He was last seen travelling from Nairobi toward Meru before he went missing.
His disappearance shocked many Kenyans and raised questions about what might have happened to him.
However, police told the court that they handled the case like any other missing person investigation.
They said detectives have been following different leads in an effort to find out what happened.
“The investigations have been ongoing, and officers have been pursuing several leads,” the officer testified.
