DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua sparked laughter among residents in Makueni County while taking a swipe at President William Ruto during a political rally.
Speaking at Mumbuni, Gachagua claimed that the President will struggle to secure votes in the Mt Kenya region in the 2027 General Election.
He alleged that he had already “set traps” in the region, insisting that Ruto had been politically cornered.
“Mlimani nimemfinya. Analia kama panya imeshikwa na mtego,” Gachagua remarked, drawing laughter and cheers from the crowd.
This loosely translates to, " In Mt Kenya, I have cornered him and he is crying like a trapped rat."
The former Deputy President further argued that continued criticism from Ruto’s camp was a clear indication of growing political pressure and diminishing support in Mt Kenya.
According to him, the region’s voting bloc will play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of the next general election.
Gachagua also used the platform to rally young people to register as voters in large numbers.
He urged them to support an opposition presidential candidate, while endorsing Kalonzo Musyoka as the Ukambani region’s political kingpin.
