Osotsi spoke on Saturday during a public meeting held in Shamakhokho, Vihiga County. He expressed concern over what he described as growing internal actions that could weaken the Orange Democratic Movement from within.
The Senator accused some individuals in the party of pushing ODM towards a rushed political arrangement with the ruling United Democratic Alliance. He warned that such moves could dilute the party’s identity and undermine its independence.
Osotsi said ODM should not be distracted by coalition talks before key issues affecting Kenyans are addressed. He noted that the party still has time to engage in political decisions and should avoid hurried commitments that may harm its long-term stability.
He reminded supporters that ODM has an agenda that was laid out by the late Raila Odinga. According to Osotsi, the focus should remain on ensuring that the agenda is fully implemented before any political alignments are considered.
Strong criticism was directed at a recent event held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre. During the event, merchandise bearing ODM’s orange colours alongside President Ruto’s image was displayed. The meeting was organised by Oketch Salah and attended by university students.
Osotsi described the move as disrespectful to the party’s values and warned against mixing ODM identity with that of UDA. He stated that while UDA leads the national government, ODM remains an independent party that deserves respect.
