Speaking after the meeting, Kalonzo accused President William Ruto’s administration of attempting to silence critics, insisting that the opposition will neither be bribed nor intimidated by those in power.
He reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to holding the government accountable.
Kalonzo also renewed calls for justice for victims of the Gen Z anti-government protests, stating that the lives lost during the demonstrations must not be forgotten.
He insisted that no intimidation or political manoeuvring can erase the memory of those who died, adding that their sacrifice should not be in vain.
His remarks come amid growing political realignments, after Oburu signalled that ODM is open to negotiations with UDA ahead of the 2027 General Election. Oburu has also indicated that the party is seeking to secure the Deputy President position as part of any future political pact.
Notably, Oburu has been absent from recent ODM rallies in the Coastal region following the ouster of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the party’s Secretary General, a development that has intensified speculation about ongoing internal and external political engagements within the party.
